Welcome 2010

We brought the New Year in right with card games, a movie, sparklers and some great toasts with the sparkling cider and grape juice. Colby got right into the toasts, making toast to "all" to "Geoff's marriage," and to "his new sister." Today we have a great visit with long time friends the Moores and the Singletons, sharing so many stories of all of our past adventures and updating on all the new. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends.

It is exciting to begin a new decade. You reflect on the last decade and think of all the changes that have occurred in the last 10 years and you know that there will be that many changes in the next 10 years. You just can't possibly imagine what those changes will be. The kids will become a part of their career choices and that will guide the nature of their days. The grandkids get older and taller. They will become who they are meant to be. We will watch ourselves become senior citizens with all the aches and pains that go with that but also enjoy the liberation of that as well. We will lose those people we love, some as planned and some as surprises. There will be new people born to our families. It will all be a very interesting and exciting drama with a litttle touch of comedy.

  1. Sounds like you enjoyed a family New Year's Eve. We sisters will have to figure out how to live through the next decade! Change does come. That new baby will be the first main event...looking forward to that.

  2. I am down to Doc's commenting as my computer has been acting up if I try to do anything too complicated on it, ever since Dante spent 15 hours on it! But I can't deny him access because he does not get the opportunity often. I always know I have Doc's computer largely unused for backup. It's so good to read an entry from Raymond, you, and others. Family blogging just gives an extended opportunity to add an artistic touch, maybe try for something more literary. Your entries have been a treat because your writing is so good. In a blog it stands out. As this entry does and Christmas past, in fact all of them you have done so far. I enjoy watching Raymond evolve as a prose writer of some power, and I know eventually when he is in a place where he can do it, he will be able to write an interesting book.

  3. You are indeed a writer at heart. Everything flows so smoothly and always touch me deeply, as I am sure you do other readers. You will always stand out from the crowd. I find I am excited that this is the month of the new baby. She will be a prize for all of you and especially Colby. He will be such a great big brother.
